auf wiedersehen...which is swedish for 'not going anywhere'. or something.

I'm not leaving Urbanmoms!!! I'm relocating!

My Fabulous run is coming to an end, folks. Of course, i'm still Fabulous. and you'll still be able to see all the Ali you please at my Cheaper Than Therapy site.

And you'll still get to get your ali-double-dose because without further ado, i'm ready to unveil my newest adventure and urbanmoms.ca partnership. from here on out, you can catch me on my brand-new entertainment site, Juice: Entertainment News with Extra Pulp. There'll be all sorts of great stuff on there. recaps, movie reviews, and even some in-your-face kind of news, including more celebrity interviews and movie screenings. There will be gossip too, of course, but i'm not here to replace Cheaty's Celebrity Gossip; I'm here to take a new spin on it and to leave my stamp.

so, i'm not leaving, i'm just relocating, to bigger and better pastures!! i hope you are as excited as i am!

(I'm sad to see my dear friend in real life and online, Haley-O, leaving us...but i'm also happy for her, because she's off to dedicate her time and energy to some new and exciting things. You're just going to have to trust me on this, because i'm in the know. and i know it's going to be great. i love you Hales, Mwah!)

Follow me!! You know you want to!!

the first crazy night...

(come on, you know you love the adam sandler song no matter how cheese it is...we can still bring it out every single year. you are singing it now, aren't you? come on, people, it's all we've got.)

so, i managed to make it though night #1 on Chanukah/Hanukah/Hannukah (whatever, choose your own adventure here) on my own. and we all survived. Well, not entirely on my own...Nanny Haydee bathed them and made latkas. yes! my filipina nanny makes potato latkas!

we lit candles:

we opened some presents:

****EDIT: Josh is making this face because apparently buying him Rataoullie wasn't enough of a gift. Then i told him he was welcome to swap with Isabella for her Little Mermaid. He stopped real quick-like.

and we ate dreidel cookies:

mmm...dreidel cookies.
i have this problem. i can't walk into a bakery and buy one thing. i went in last night to buy 5 cookies. one for each kid, and two for me. (just kidding, one for Haydee too) i walked out with 13. i don't even know how it happened. i had good intentions, people. but still, somehow i managed to buy 13. the husband knows he can't ever send me in. if he sends me in to get bagels, i come out with 4 cinnamon buns. if i go in to buy a pie, i buy a pie and a cake and some brownies. it's a sickness, really.

the truth is, right now i have ZERO appetite. this cold is killing my desire to eat anything but soup. imagine what i would have bought had i wanted to eat. (i still managed to eat 2 cookies, even without a desire for food. yes, i have issues)

the time has come, the walrus said...

I think my nanny is going to be harder to toilet train than my daughter.

Isabella's always loved the toilet. but way back in the summer, when we tried this before, it was all about the toilet paper and the diego seat and the dora potty. sometimes she'd pee. sometimes she wouldn't. sometimes she'd fart and get so excited, jump up to look at her masterpiece, only to be disappointed.

This past week, though, something seemed to change.

She's now asking to use the potty. and actually completing the task. she's announcing her business "i needa pee!" sitting down, doing the deed, and getting rewarded (smarties, of course. bribery works VERY well in our house)

she was 2 in mid-August...which puts her about 2 years 4 months by the time this is complete. Which, surprisingly, puts her at the exact same age as Josh was when he was toilet trained! I always thought he was younger...but i guess it was only Emily who was freakishly trained before 2.

so, it seems Isabella's on board. she's ready. i'm ready. the husband's ready. the only one who's NOT ready is Nanny Haydee...because she's the one who is going to have to do all the work. It's much easier to shlep around a diaper bag and change her when necessary than it is to find a bathroom at the urgent annoucement of "I need to make!"
